Dr. Heather Ann O’Brien, PsyD, PMH-C, is a clinical psychologist licensed in Washington with the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) in all PSYPACT states. She specializes in psychological assessment, reproductive mental health, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Completing the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Mental Health Professional Group advanced training and earning certification as a Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) provider by Postpartum Support International in 2023, Dr. O’Brien brings extensive expertise to her practice. She is a professional member of the American Psychological Association, Washington Psychological Association, American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Mental Health Professional Group, and Federation of State Physician Health Programs.
Dr. O’Brien’s academic journey includes advanced degrees from CACREP-accredited and APA-accredited programs, a pre-doctoral internship at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veteran Affairs Medical Center with rotations in inpatient psychiatry, PTSD clinical teams, and a women’s residential substance use treatment program, as well as certification in reproductive mental health and ongoing training in neuropsychological assessment. Her early career was spent serving within the Department of Defense healthcare system, first as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force and later as an addictions specialist in the United States Navy. Passionate about integrated behavioral health care, Dr. O’Brien has directed these services in primary care, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology clinics. In addition to her clinical work, she is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of medical professionals through her involvement with the Washington Physicians Health Program.
