Dr. Dana Brauman is a licensed psychologist who brings over two decades of clinical experience to our practice. Currently, she serves as the forensic clinical supervisor and lead clinician for immigration evaluations. Prior to her work with PECNA, Dr. Brauman was employed as a forensic psychologist in the federal prison system. In the course of her work, she has been widely recognized as expert witness on psycholegal matters in federal and immigration courts. Dr. Brauman is licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Texas. She is also able to practice telehealth in 40+ other states via the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) credential issued by PSYPACT.
Dr. Brauman obtained a bachelor of science with distinction in biopsychology from the University of Michigan. Following this, she earned a master’s degree and doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Her clinical training focused heavily on psychological assessment and forensic applications. She gained highly advanced skills in clinical interviewing, differential diagnosis, and forensic applications. More recently, Dr. Brauman completed a rigorous two-year post-doctoral master’s degree in clinical psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in legal studies, with an emphasis on immigration law.
Throughout her career, Dr. Brauman has demonstrated a strong commitment to working with vulnerable and underserved populations. Her evaluations are customized to the referral question and the individual needs of each client. She approaches each client with compassion and ensures her assessments are comprehensive, collaborative, trauma-informed, and culturally-sensitive. She also runs a small private practice where she works mainly with immigrants and the LGBTQ community.
